An Act To Clarify the Qualifications and Oversight of Sheriffs

Clarifies that a candidate for county sheriff must either be currently certified as a law enforcement officer and in compliance with the training requirement or be a previously certified law enforcement officer within one year of taking office,requires all county sheriffs to continually meet the in-service law enforcement training standards and any other statutory requirements of preservice, basic or in-service law enforcement training required for certification or continued certification.
