AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS TO PROVIDE CASH OVERTIME PAY INSTEAD OF COMPENSATORY TIME TO ALL CORRECTIONS OFFICERS, OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT STAFF AND OTHER EMPLOYEES WHO WORK IN THE CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE DEPARTMENT FOR ALL TIME WORKED BY THE OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE THAT IS CONSIDERED TO BE OVERTIME FOR THE POSITION INVOLVED UNDER THE FEDERAL FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT,TO AMEND SECTIONS 25-1-98, 25-3-92 AND 25-9-119, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CONFORM TO THE PRECEDING PROVISIONS,AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

Requires the Mississippi Department of Corrections to provide cash overtime pay instead of compensatory time to all corrections officers, other law enforcement staff and other employees who work in the correctional facilities under the jurisdiction of the Department for all time worked by the officer or employee that is considered to be overtime for the position involved under the federal fair labor standards act,conforms to the preceding provisions.
