Upcoming Event: Experts to Discuss Qualified Immunity

Join us this Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. on Zoom (Webinar ID: 993 5469 1485) for an event on called Unqualified Immunity? The Challenges of Holding Federal Officials Accountable. The event features Anya Bidwell from the Institute for Justice, who is working on a case called Brownback v. King which will be in front of the Supreme Court this November. She will give opening remarks on how qualified immunity, Supreme Court precedent on accountability for federal officers, and joint state-federal task forces intersect to immunize federal officials from accountability for misconduct.

Duke Professor Brandon Garrett, the Wilson Center for Science and Justice's Faculty Director, will moderate a discussion following Ms. Bidwell's remarks featuring two leading experts on qualified immunity and constitutional law: UCLA Law Professor Joanna Schwartz and University of Texas Law Professor Steve Vladeck. There will also be time reserved for attendee's questions.

The event is sponsored by the Duke Law Federalist Society and Co-Sponsored by the Wilson Center, the Duke Law Center for Criminal Justice and Professional Responsibility, the Duke Criminal Law Society, and the Duke Law Innocence Project.
