Advancing Fair Sentencing and Expanding Pathways to Release

scales of justice

Despite ample evidence that long sentences do not enhance public safety, people continue to receive lengthy sentences that can span decades, including life without parole. We research the scope and impact of extended incarceration, design mechanisms for sentencing relief and second chance opportunities, and collaborate with people impacted by long sentences to inform evidence-based policies. Our work aims to build a justice system that values accountability, redemption, and long-term public safety.
