Improving Fairness and Public Safety
We study critical decision points in the criminal legal system—including plea bargaining, cash bail, and law enforcement use of AI—to promote more fair and effective approaches to public safety. We identify racial, economic, behavioral health, and other structural disparities at these decision points and collaborate with community stakeholders and policy makers to develop data-driven recommendations that strengthen communities and improve safety for all.
